The Walled Garden, Little Plumstead, Norwich

Part time Café Supervisor max 24 hours per week

For the last 3 years a team of volunteers have worked hard to bring a shop, café and the former walled garden back to Little Plumstead, Norwich. Our aim is to create a thriving hub for all the local community to share and enjoy. We are so pleased to be able to confirm that after much planning and preparation the dream is finally becoming a reality and The Walled Garden will be opening soon.

We are looking for a flexible Part-time Supervisor primarily to work in the café area of our Community shop, but taking overall responsibility to ensure the smooth running of the shop in the Managers absence. During your shift you will have the responsibility to ensure our hard working volunteers have the skills required to prepare and serve food and drink to our customers. Food preparation will include heating sausage rolls, toasting teacakes, making sandwiches. Cakes and pastries from the servery will also be on offer. Drinks will include coffee, tea and hot chocolate.

You will have the responsibility for maintaining the standards of hygiene within the café and be part of our friendly team, consisting mostly of volunteers, whose aim will be to deliver excellent levels of service to our customers.

Duties will also include ensuring sufficient staffing levels to be able to offer a high standard of customer service, maintaining stock levels, keeping records, clearing tables, washing up.

Previous experience in catering will be an advantage as knowledge of food hygiene legislation will be essential in this role. A food hygiene certificate will also be advantageous.

We are looking for someone with the enthusiasm to provide ideas for growing the café business, as one of our long term aims is to use the venue for planned events and gatherings.
